Poudre Fire Authority's fire prevention personnel are responsible for improving fire safety within our community to reduce risk and protect the people we serve. Our duties include but aren't limited to:

  • Providing education about and enforcement of the International Fire Code within PFA's 235-square-mile service area
  • Conducting fire safety inspections of community businesses
  • Inspecting all fire sprinkler systems
  • Reviewing plans and inspecting the fire suppression systems for all new construction
  • Reviewing and issuing permits for open burns and other events that present a fire risk
  • Providing educational resources for area businesses, and manage the Hazardous Materials Management Plan (HMMP) program within the City of Fort Collins, Town of Timnath, and Laporte and Bellvue areas
  • Empowering adults and children to live their safest lives and protect themselves against fire through education and awareness
