Fire Codes
For most proposed commercial and residential developments, new buildings and building additions, the first step is for the applicant to receive approval of planning documents, which include site development plans, plats and public improvement construction plans, and then approval of building permit construction drawings.
It is the responsibility of the applicant and his/her contractors to be familiar with the adopted codes that apply to their project. Please make sure if there is any confusion or uncertainty about the requirements for your project, you contact PFA to discuss your specific project requirements as early as possible to avoid project delays.

Understanding the Plan Review Process
Commercial projects and residential sprinklers (13D) within PFA’s jurisdiction require a plan review and a series of inspections as part of the building and occupancy permit process. These reviews and inspections ensure the safety of the finished building.
PFA works closely with contractors to make the plan review process as easy as possible. Our goal is to get your project approved quickly, and to catch problems early when they're easy to fix.
