Fire extinguishers can expire and should be inspected annually. They also need to be serviced every several years to ensure they will work correctly in an emergency.
Poudre Fire Authority does not test or service fire extinguishers. We also don't dispose of unwanted or expired fire extinguishers so please don't drop them off at a fire station or facility.
You can dispose of fire extinguishers at the Larimer County Landfill, as long as you follow landfill guidelines. If you have questions or need clarification on the proper disposal of an item, please call 970-498-5760 or visit the landfill website.
