At PFA, we work to empower the roughly 206,000 people we serve to live happier, healthier lives through fire- and life-safety education. Every day, PFA firefighters go to people's homes, workplaces and schools to help people with myriad medical issues -- whether it's a person suffering a heart attack or someone who's fallen and can't get up.
One way you can help first responders is to have record of your healthcare that's readily available. We recommend that people of all ages download this form, what we call the "File of Life," fill it out and hang it on the refrigerator.
That way, firefighters and paramedics can consult the form and see what medications you might be taking, as well as who your primary emergency contacts are, in the event you're unable to speak for yourself.
