State of the Art Fire Station Opens in Laporte, CO

LAPORTE, Colo. — Poudre Fire Authority (PFA) is proud to announce the opening of the new Station 7 at 3016 W. County Road 54G in Laporte, CO. The fire house replaced an aging facility on north Overland Dr. that had served the area since 1976.

The new station, home to Engine 7, Brush 7, and Boat 7, enhances fire suppression, wildfire response, high angle rescue, and water rescue capabilities for LaPorte and the surrounding areas. Crews had their first shift there on April 21 and they have been working to make the place home ever since.

The original Station 7 was nearly 50 years old and lacked the space to house modern equipment, additional apparatus, or accommodate the number of firefighters needed to appropriately staff the station.

Designed by BWG Architects and built by Golden Triangle Construction, the new Station 7 is a state-of-the-art fire service facility. “It was designed with response, functionality, and firefighter health and wellness as priorities,” said Support Division Chief Ross Reinking who helped oversee the construction process.

It includes advanced air filtration systems, dedicated decontamination zones to ensure emergency scene contaminants do not enter the living area, and an improved day and bunk room designs focused on responder rest and recovery. The station incorporates multiple areas to conduct hands-on, scenario-based rope rescue, ladder, boat, and search training.

The station also includes a community room, which will be available for reservations following the grand opening. “We wanted to wait until the landscaping was more established before opening the room up to the community,” said Reinking. “This is something the previous station did not have and a resource we are excited to offer the community of LaPorte.”

A grand opening celebration is Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. The event will include tours, opportunities to meet PFA firefighters, and snacks from local vendors. The first 50 children in attendance will receive a free PFA T-shirt.

The land for the new station was generously donated by Loveland Ready Mix Concrete. The original station 7 building is currently listed for sale.
