PFA Firefighters Extinguish Landfill Fire

Poudre Fire Authority firefighters on Aug. 6, 2018, extinguished a fire the Larimer County Landfill Recycling Center, 5887 S. Taft Hill Road.

With the assistance of staff, PFA crews were able to move the debris outside of one of the building's and extinguish it. It was contained to loose recyclables. 

An investigation is underway to determine the cause.

Two landfill employees were evaluated for smoke inhalation by UCHealth EMS crews. They were treated and released on scene.

As a reminder, please do not place batteries in with your recyclables curbside. Instead, they can be dropped off at the Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center, located at the landfill.
