How are inspections scheduled, and how are the contractors notified?

Inspections are conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The inspector will call the contractor the day before the inspection to schedule a time for that final inspection. Please go to http://www.pfafireprevention.org.

How can I schedule the safety trailer?

Just give our Service Request Hotline a call at 970-416-2757. Three weeks advanced notice is required.

How close can I park to a fire hydrant?

Fifteen (15) feet.

How do I become a volunteer firefighter?

Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 970-221-6244.

How do I clean up after fire/smoke damage?

Clean walls, floors, furniture, drapes, etc. with the following solution - 4-6 tablespoons Tri-Sodium Phosphate, 1 cup Lysol or any chloride bleach and 1 gallon water then rinse with warm water & dry - wear rubber gloves with this solution. Make sure there is as much air going through the rooms as possible.

How do I confirm a public education program that is already scheduled?

f you are scheduled with an engine company station, call our Administration office at 970-221-6570 and ask to be transferred to the station with which you are scheduled.

How do I dispose of an old fire extinguisher?

Contact a private company, found in the yellow pages of the phone book under "Fire Extinguishers."

How do I dispose of old fireworks?

Bring them to the Fire Prevention office at 102 Remington Street, Fort Collins, CO

How do I get a burn permit and how long does the review process take?

Applications for open burning are taken at the Fire Prevention Bureau, 1st floor at 102 Remington Street. All burn sites are inspected before a permit is issued. The application process can take anywhere from 4 to 10 days. Burn permits are not issued on Thursdays or Fridays and all open burning requires a signed permit. At the present time, there is no charge for burn permits. Completed applications can be faxed to Fire Prevention at 970-221-6635 for review. How do I schedule a community room at the station or administration building?

Call Administration at 970-221-6570 and ask to be transferred to the appropriate station with a community room.

How does my out-of-town alarm company contact the Fire Department?

They can call our 24-hour Dispatch Center at 970-416-2600.

How far in advance do I have to schedule a program?

Three weeks advanced notice is required.

How long before I can get a copy of a fire report?

Fire investigations include finishing the written reports take from five days to two weeks depending on the size and complexity of the fire. Call Investigations at 970-416-2890 for information. Arson reports may take much longer.

How many sets of plans do you require for building plan review?

Two sets. They do NOT need to be stamped.

How much is the fee for my building or system plan review?
