Divisions and ProgramsOffice of the Fire ChiefThe Fire Chief operates under the general direction of the PFA Board of Directors and is responsible for the operations, policies, and procedures of the department. Generally, the Chief supervises the acquisition, management, and maintenance of the Authority's facilities, material, and personnel as well as securing positive interjurisdictional relations with all necessary public and private entities.
Administrative ServicesAdministrative Services is responsible for providing administrative assistance to all PFA Divisions in the areas of financial management, payroll, personnel records, policies, insurance, risk management, strategic planning, computer acquisition and maintenance, PFA Board and Council reports, and coordination of the department's legal matters. Mailing address: 102 Remington Street Fort Collins, CO 80524 Emergency OperationsThe Operations Division is responsible for providing timely and effective emergency services to all citizens and businesses within the Poudre Fire Authority. These services include fire suppression, emergency medical service (basic life support and automatic defibrillator), hazardous materials response, public education, specialized rescue and other emergencies. Comprised chiefly of paid, professional emergency personnel, the division also utilizes volunteer firefighters in rural areas and provides cross-functional services in cooperation with other divisions. The Operations Division is also responsible for providing educational opportunities for children, special population groups and the general public, identifying emerging community fire trends and assisting businesses in educating employees in proper fire safety behaviors. More specifically the division is responsible for a broad array of functions which are necessary to support its primary role of emergency response. These responsibilities include training for all emergency response functions, equipment and station maintenance and the development of mutual aid and other intergovernmental agreements regarding emergency response. Fire Prevention Bureau
The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for administering all
PFA fire prevention programs. These programs include fire protection
systems, inspection services, investigations, new construction,
youth fire awareness, and hazardous materials regulation. The Fire Prevention Division uses a combination of full
time and part time personnel, cross trained Operations Division
personnel and program teams The Division is responsible for ensuring that all buildings and facilities constructed within the PFA jurisdiction conform to all applicable fire codes and standards, that all buildings and facilities are inspected periodically to detect and correct fire hazards and that all fire protection and hazardous materials systems are installed and maintained correctly. The Division is responsible for determining the cause and origin of all fires and to initiate actions to identify changes in fire codes and standards based on relevant fire history. Fire Prevention is responsible for maintaining applicable records, accounting and related systems capable of supporting all fire prevention programs in accordance with state statutes and recognized administrative practices. Under general direction of the Fire Chief, the Fire Prevention Division Chief (Fire Marshal) directs all activities of the division and is responsible for planning, administering and evaluating all fire prevention programs.
